Clug Meeting Annual Geek Toys Meeting 12 attendees The opening question was: “Which Linux distribution did you have the most trouble with?” The question was not answered unanimously. (That fact was a big surprise for our geek community ).) A couple of people answered that Debian was difficult for them to install. One person had problems with an early version of Redhat, Slackware 12.1 was mentioned by one and Gentoo was simply “disliked” by Steve. Birdsall and several other folks volunteered that they like Ubuntu while Steve voted for Centos as his favorite. Craig mentioned Puppy for its ease of use. November 2010--Officer Election and PresentationSubmitted by BillStowell on Mon, 2010-11-22 07:24.
Steve Jones called our meeting to arder at approximately 10:30 am. Nine members were present for the meeting. Following the election procedure, Steve Jones gave an informative presentation on installing the NX server for home use. NX is a commercial server with a free version. The free version has a restricted number of users, but allows access to remote computers using ssh protocol over the internet. Based on Steve's presentation, it seems to be an easy server to set up and use. ( categories: Board Minutes )
